Ad:Tech Pitching Den Winners!
Thursday last week was the final of the first ever Young Entrepreneurs Festival in Tech City. It was a three day event which began with 150 companies pitching to judges and mentors on a one to one basis. The 22 chosen to go through to day 2 participated in workshops and mini seminars. It was so bizarre how my pitch changed over the two days- forget the two days, it changed every time I spoke to a different person! After a final, intense, five minute pitch infront of a group of judges with absolutely no reaction (half of them definitely missed their callling as actors) a two hour period was waited until the final ten were chosen.
The final "Pitching Den" at Ad:Tech in Olympia was just nerve wracking. A group of us had been up for hours the night before and in the early hours of the morning trying to perfect it. We were pitching infront of four impressive judges, possible mentors, angel investors and, of course, our peers. Everyone was just brilliant. The business ideas were great, their CEOs highly talented and their pitches perfected.
The icing on the cake though was being announced as the winner! I hope that particular bit was not filmed as my face was definitely a picture not to be beheld!
I have to say thank you to everyone at IPA, Tech City (especially Andrew Humphries), the mentors and judges who have up their time, Creative Pioneers, the Metro newspaper and Ad:Tech for the amazing opportunity. It was a great few days!
